I started my musical journey playing bass in a local band in Hayes during the mid Seventies. Over the years we progressed to become a very popular band called Sky and then Haze, playing venues in West London and the South of England. I left the band in the early Eighties to travel the country with my daughter who was a very talented badminton player.
The next part of my journey started in the early nineties when I met an old guitarist friend of mine, Jim and his wife Pat who were looking to form a duo and an occasional trio. As I had started playing keyboards at that time I decided to give it a go. This proved to be very successful until Jim decided he was going to give it a go as a solo artist. I then met Paul who was a very good friend of mine and lead singer in the band I was with in the Seventies and Eighties. We both decided to get together and formed a very successful duo called Rivers, (Supporting acts such as the Four Tops, Jimmy Jones, and Michael Barrymore) This ran its course and I decided to work as a solo artist. (I needed the money). I performed as a solo artist for about ten years until I met Barry in a local pub called the Nine Stiles. I knew Barry as I was the dodgy geezer who sold him a keyboard a few years before. We were both fed up playing solo and decided to form a duo. We also started jamming regularly with friends in the Nine Stiles and I started playing bass again after many years. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we formed a band called The Stiles. And this is where my musical journey has led me and I can honestly say I’m having a great time playing music and drinking with my friends. My musical influences are The Beatles, Soul music and Tamla Motown.
